We are working to ensure that children on the Isle of Wight are supported to get the best start in life that will lead to good health and wellbeing. This will provide the foundation to ensure they are able to achieve the best opportunities and keep as healthy and well as possible throughout their lives.
We want to ensure that families, individuals and communities are thriving and resilient with access to good jobs, affordable housing, leisure activities, lifelong training, education and learning, health and care services are are able to enjoy the place in which they live.
We want to ensure that people on the Isle of Wight are able to live independently in their own homes with appropriate care support. We want to make sure older residents are supported to play an active role in their communities and supported to maintain and develop their social and community networks.
A popular health and wellbeing roadshow returns to Ryde next month with a host of local organisations offering support and advice.
The FREE event will take place between 10am-3pm on 15th September at Aspire in Dover Street, Ryde – a popular local venue for community support and activities, housed in a former church building.
The roadshow, part of the My Life a Full Life programme, aims to help make people aware of the support and advice available on their doorstep to help them keep healthy and well.
A range of organisations including Wessex Cancer Trust, Wightcare, Volunteer Centre, Optio, Parkinson’s UK, National Trust, People Matter, Ehlers Danlos Group, the local Care Navigator and the British Red Cross and more, will all be on hand to talk to and help people get the most out of their local neighbourhood support network.
Nicola Longson, Programme Director for My Life a Full Life said: “One of the key aims of the My Life a Full Life programme is to ensure that people have access to information and support so that people can take control and manage their own health and care more easily.
“By bringing together organisations in this way, we’ve been able to showcase what’s available locally and help people to make those connections in a relaxed and informal environment.”
The roadshows have so far visited Freshwater, Ryde, Cowes, Shanklin and Newport with more being planned across the Island later this year. Dates will be publicised on the events section of our website www.mylifeafulllife.com/events.htm
