Work Experience

**Due to COVID-19 the Isle of Wight NHS Trust has postponed Work Experience until further notice. We will update this page when we are able to restart our programmes .**

About us

The people who work in our teams make a positive difference, each and every day.

Our Trust is the only NHS organisation in the country that provides Acute (hospital based), Ambulance, Community and Mental, Health services.

We are not just Doctors and Nurses,

There are over 350 different careers within the NHS, each with a vital role to play in delivering high quality, compassionate care, from Healthcare Assistants to Business Managers, Estates to Domestics, Allied Health Professionals to IT and so much more!

Work experience provides you with a great opportunity to develop your understanding about what it is like to work within the NHS and to think about the career pathway you may like to pursue.

If you are unsure what your future could be, we recommend that you take time to visit the NHS Careers website to help you decide.

Here at the IOW NHS Trust, we are proud to offer a variety of work experience which is designed to develop your skills, whilst also helping you to gain confidence and build steps within your chosen career path.

We welcome requests to support local careers events both virtually and/or on site. Representatives from the Trust will showcase their roles and career journeys, providing you with the opportunity to speak to professionals about their careers and ask any questions you may have. It also will demonstrate to you the many career opportunities available within the Trust, providing time and support to either help you on your chosen career path or identify what your career path could be. Requests must be submitted at least 3 months prior to the proposed required date.

For Schools / Colleges / Training Providers, all requests will need to come directly from the Careers Advisor or Teacher and should be emailed to iownt.careers-work.experience@nhs.net

We work with local Universities to support clinical placements, which lead to registration with the NMC and HCPC regulatory bodies.

We are able to consider Elective Placement requests for out of area Universities if students are keen to work for the Trust upon registration.

Please click here for more information.

To access clinical placements in any of these areas, please contact your university Programme Lead.

The placement must be arranged at least 3 months prior to commencement.
